MAX208CDBRG4 is a member of Maxim Integrated CMOS logic interface family that includes drivers, receivers, transceivers, and switches. It is a complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) logic with an open-drain maximum drive of 8.5mA. Its current consumption is low, the power consumption is reduced, and its digital signal operating temperature can range from -65°C to +125°C. The MAX208CDBRG4 is designed to be a low voltage, single-chip transmitter-receiver device. It has been designed to eliminate the need for external power logic elements and reduces the overall system power consumption to a minimum.

The main application field for MAX208CDBRG4 is in automotive and battery-operated systems where CMOS logic is required to reduce component size, component costs, and power consumption. When an output is driven low, it will sink the current from the connected I/O device. When the output is not active, the output will float and no current will be sunk from the I/O device. The open-drain inputs can be used in a number of ways and can be connected to a variety of I/O devices. The inputs are TTL compatible and also have 8-TTL compatibility. The open-drain outputs are powerful enough to sink up to 8.5mA of current to the connected I/O device.

The MAX208CDBRG4 is an ideal interface solution for automotive and battery-operated systems which require low voltage, single-chip transmitter-receiver devices. It features eight complete drivers and receivers that are designed to reduce the overall system power consumption. The open-drain outputs are capable of sinking up to 8.5mA of current to the connected I/O devices and the inputs are TTL compatible and also have 8-TTL compatibility. This makes the device well suited for multiple power supplies or voltage levels.
