MAX208ECWG+ is an interface transmitter and receiver that supports RS232 2-wire full-duplex transmission. The receiver portion has up to +-15kV electrostatic protection to eliminate data corruption due to high voltage transients. These characteristics make MAX208ECWG+ suitable for applications where EMI and ESD protection is required. The device is available in a surface mount SOIC-14 package.

Working Principle

The register is composed of 16-bit shift registers, which store the data in memory. The data is shifted out of the shift register to the parallel register, which stores the parallel digital signal. From the parallel register, the data is passed to the receiver, which processes the signal.

The MAX208ECWG+ also supports a wide variety of baud rates, such as 300, 600, 1200, 1800, and 2400, and it has auto baud capabilities. Additionally, the part has a low power consumption of 2.0mA, which makes it ideal for battery-powered applications.
