Maxim Integrated’s MAX221EXAE+ is an enhanced version of their prior silicon-based, integrated circuit (IC) designed for medical, industrial and military applications. It utilizes low-power CMOS technology and is considered a high-performance transceiver IC. In addition, it features wide temperature operating range, two SPI/I2C-compatible serial interfaces, an integrated RF switch and an integrated low-noise amplifier. The MAX221EXAE+ is used as an interface driver, receiver, and/or transceiver, meaning it is capable of sending and receiving digital signals. Its main purpose is to provide electricity to operate and receive digital logic signals.

The MAX221EXAE+ is an enhanced version of the MAX221 family of integrated circuits and features clock synchronization, high-speed data rate, low power consumption and excellent signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Utilizing both SPI and I2C to communicate, the MAX221EXAE+ can operate at a rate of up to 100 Mbps and can support data rates of up to 200 Mbps when using the I2C interface. The continuous mode enables the MAX221EXAE+ to continuously transmit and receive data, whereas the bursty mode allows data transmissions to occur in bursts.
