The MAX2338ETI+ is a complete RF Pre-Distortion (PD) linearizer IC designed to optimize amplifier performance and reduce distortion in power amplifiers (PAs) for cellular and other wireless applications. It features an integrated, low-power version of Max\'s pre-distortion technology and a dual-channel, differential-input modulator.
Max\'s integrated PD technology uses time-domain pulse-shaping to pre-distort input signals into a linear output waveform. With this approach, rather than trying to offset signal non-linearities at their source, the linearizer shapes the input signal to accommodate the non-linearities of the PA. The resulting output waveform has reduced distortion and intermodulation products, allowing for higher efficiencies and improved linearity in the power amplifier.
The dual-channel differential-input modulator features a precision frequency dividing pre-scaler and a wideband quadrature modulator. The bandwidth of the device can be adjusted according to the user\'s needs and the level of signal distortion necessary to achieve a desired linearity. The quadrature modulator has very low timing skew and phase noise, providing an ideal solution for applications which need very low distortion and accurate signal linearization.
The MAX2338ETI+ also includes several integrated output monitoring and control functions. It provides for adjustable max and min forward power settings, as well as a temperature monitor to help extend the life of the PA. Additionally, an automatic gain control (AGC) loop runs in the background to detect and correct for changes in the PA\'s output.
