The MAX237CWG+ is a family of integrated CMOS line drivers, receivers, and transceivers specifically designed for computer systems, modems, and telecommunications applications. The receivers and drivers feature a low peak-to-peak distortion for improved system performance. The MAX237CWG+ features differential inputs and single-ended outputs, and operates on a differential input voltage range of –3V to +3V and a single-ended output voltage range of 0V to 5V. A large number of specific parts are available with on-chip voltage translation, level shifting, and input/output combinations.

The core of the MAX237CWG+ is formed around the chip\'s line driver and receiver, whose essential function is to amplify and convert TTL inputs and outputs, respectively. This core consists of two main components: a differential amplifier and a non-inverting amplifier. The differential amplifier consists of two input transistors, a common-mode voltage control circuit, resistor biasing networks and one output transistor. The amplifier\'s input transistors provide an interface between TTL logic levels and the chip\'s internal supply voltages. The common-mode voltage control circuit compensates for changes in the operating voltage by controlling the biases of the input transistors. This circuit includes a voltage divider, an op-amp and an error correction feedback loop. The MAX237CWG+ also includes a non-inverting amplifier, which amplifies the output of the differential amplifier. It consists of two transistors, two resistors and two biasing networks. The MAX237CWG+ also contains two ESD-protection circuits to protect the chip and the system from Electrostatic Discharges (ESD) during operation. These circuits absorb any ESD-induced voltages and dissipate them through the resistors and capacitors without damaging the chip or the system.
