Introduction of MAX3222CAP+TThe MAX3222CAP+T is a 3V to 5.25V, automotive qualified, universal serial interface transceiver with internal +5.25V and +3V CMOS levels and +3V TOL logic levels. It also contains an ultra-low power level switch, which when enabled by pin 28, reduces the supply current to 40 µA and the shutdown current to 1 µA.The standard version of the MAX3222CAP+T is specified over the -40 °C to +85 °C temperature range while the extended version is specified over the -40 °C to +125 °C temperature range. The device is 5 V tolerant and is available in tiny packages. Applications and Features of MAX3222CAP+TThe MAX3222CAP+T is designed for use in general purpose interfaces as well as automotive applications. Its features make it ideal for use in applications such as point-of-sale terminals, barcode scanners, PDAs and medical equipment.The MAX3222CAP+T features a wide supply voltage range from 3V to 5V, low power consumption, a shutdown mode and an ultra-low power level switch. It also includes integrated input/output (I/O) protection, configurable output slew rate,and a pin that drives an external reset for system restart.Working Principle of MAX3222CAP+TThe MAX3222CAP+T consists of two transceivers, each containing two driver and two receivers. Each driver can be independently enabled and disabled, allowing complete flexibility of the driver/receiver enable and clock enable lines.The MAX3222CAP+T operates in either parallel or serial mode depending on the state of the Direction (Dir) pin. Setting the Dir pin to a \'0\' enables parallel mode while setting it to a \'1\' enables serial mode. The Driver Enable 1 (DE1) and Driver Enable 2 (DE2) determine whether the driver 1 and driver 2 are active or inactive.In serial mode, up to two channels of data may be transmitted. The data is latched on the rising edge of the Clock, enabling fast data rates to be achieved. The Clock source can be either an internal oscillator, an external oscillator, or an external clock.The MAX3222CAP+T is ideal for use when bi-directional communication is required. When Driver 1 and Driver 2 are enabled, both channels can be used for transmission and reception simultaneously, allowing data to flow from both directions.The MAX3222CAP+T includes integrated input/output (I/O) protection, so the transceiver can survive voltage spikes at the I/O pins. The output slew rate is configurable, allowing the transceiver to operate at maximum frequencies of up to 20MHz.The MAX3222CAP+T is also designed to be used in automotive applications. It is designed to survive the harsh conditions of the automotive environment and is qualified according to the Automotive Electronics Council\'s AEC-Q100 specifications.The MAX3222CAP+T is a 3V to 5.25V, automotive qualified, universal serial interface transceiver.
