Working Principle
The MAX336EUI is an analog switch and multiplexer consisting of two blocking SCRs, one N-type MOSFET power transistor, and a voltage regulator. Each of the SCRs has a gate and two emitter terminals, which can be used to connect to a different input signal. The MOSFET has a single gate and two drains, one of which is connected to the voltage regulator and the other one is used to connect to the output signal. The voltage regulator ensures that the voltage on the MOSFET\'s drain is always kept constant.
When a low voltage is applied to the gate of an SCR, its associated MOSFET is turned on and the signal from the corresponding pair of emitters is connected to the output signal. When the voltage on the gate of an SCR rises above its threshold voltage the associated MOSFET is turned off and the signal from the corresponding pair of emitters is no longer sent to the output signal. This operation will repeat until the desired signal is connected to the output.
Analog signals are continuously connected and disconnected at the MOSFET\'s drain, which creates a low On-state resistance, allowing for a low On-state voltage drop. This also allows for a higher signal power rating than can be achieved with comparable devices. The device features a low Off-capacitance and a wide frequency range, which ensures that the device can transmit a wide variety of signals without distortion. Additionally, the device features a high On/Off ratio, which ensures that the device is switchable without any leakage current.
