MAX3222ECAP+T is an integrated, cost-optimized, ultra-low power transceiver IC for RS-232 communication that combines transmitter, receiver and Capacitively Coupled Transceiver functions. It is suitable for applications where power-saving is of critical importance, such as mobile devices.MAX3222ECAP+T is compliant with the EIA/TIA RS-232-C specification, and is optimized for +3.3V, +5V and +12V levels. It has an extended temperature range from -40C to +85C and features 3.0V to 5.5V operating voltage. It also features a low supply current of less than 1mA, providing excellent power saving capabilities while still delivering robust RS-232 signal levels.The integrated receiver and transmitter of the MAX3222ECAP+T can work in both full-duplex and half-duplex modes. The receiver provides two functions, Single Ended I/O and Differential I/O, allowing it to be used in a wide range of applications. Its Capacitively Coupled Transceiver pinouts allows the MAX3222ECAP+T to drive a variety of parasitic pair cables.The MAX3222ECAP+T also features a 3-state control input, allowing the Capacitively Coupled Transceiver functions to be disabled for certain applications, such as e-mail services or data base access, where only the TxD and RxD need to be enabled. This allows the MAX3222ECAP+T to be used in a wide variety of applications, including wireless products.The MAX3222ECAP+T is fabricated on a monolithic die and features exceptionally low power consumption and high reliability.
