The MAX3942ETG+T is an integrated 4-lane Channel Link I/O transceiver with an embedded PLL supporting long-distance, low-noise cable links in telecom applications. This device provides a complete, low-cost Channel Link interface solution requiring no external PLL. The MAX3942ETG+T is a great choice for telecom applications, combining data transmission, timing extraction, and generate a clean clock synchronous to the received data stream.

The MAX3942ETG+ T is designed to receive 4 serial lanes of non-return-to-zero (NRZ) data at the input and transmit 4 lanes locally. The receiver PLL extracts clock and data information from the differential NRZ input and recovers four synchronized clock and data streams at the outputs. The output data rate is equal to the input data rate. The PLL frequency range is from 400MHz to 800MHz, providing data rates from 200Mbps to 400Mbps. The differential AC-coupled input also operates from 400MHz to 800MHz.

Working Principle

The MAX3942ETG+T telecom transceiver integrates four serial lanes in NRZ data format, up to 800MHz and up to 4Gbps within a single device. It is designed to receive four serial lanes of NRZ data at the input, extract clock information and recover data streams at the outputs. The received four lanes of data input is AC-coupled gain and signal is reshaped to create a differential output. The integrated PLL is used to recover the clock signal from the NRZ input and generate a clean clock signal in synchronous with the received data stream.

The Chip also has other features, such as surge protection and electro-magnetic noise immunity. Its integrated power switch can indicate power-on or power-off conditions, it can also withstand higher voltages for improved immunity to surges, lightning and other transients up to ±24V, suitable for outdoor applications.
