The MAX4494ASA+ is a general-purpose amplifier specifically intended for small-signal applications. It is a low-noise, wide-bandwidth, low-dropout instrumentation amplifier suitable for use in many linear-amplifier, instrumentation, OP amp, and buffer-amp applications. It is based on a design approach called “Differential Input to Output Amplifier”, which amplifies small signals in a differential fashion to produce high common-mode and power-supply rejection ratios as well as high gain accuracy. The MAX4494ASA+ is designed to amplify small signals from DC to several hundred kHz. Combined with its low noise density of only 10nV/√Hz, it provides accurate amplification with low distortion, making it an excellent choice for automotive, industrial, and medical indirect-sensing applications. The maximum output current is rated at 140mA, allowing for accurate current sensing up to several amperes.

The MAX4494ASA+ features two separate amplifiers nested in the single-chip package. These two amplifiers are designed to perform different functions in the system. The main amplifier is used to amplify from DC to several hundred kHz and provides a gain accuracy of ±0.1%. The secondary amplifier is used to control the reference voltage of the main amplifier.
