This helps reduce power consumption, enabling the MAX4549EAX+ to be used in battery-powered applications.As the channel is enabled, the internal PNP transistor pulls a high voltage to the FET gate, resulting in the gate being "on". This causes the gate-source voltage to drop to low on resistance, thereby connecting the channel between the source and the drain. When the channel is disabled, the internal PNP transistor is driven to a low voltage, thus pulling the gate of the FET to zero, resulting in a high resistance state between source and the drain.The switching characteristics of the MAX4549EAX+ are enhanced due to the low Ron, which is typically equal to or less than 0.5Ω in the "on" state. This low Ron allows supply current designs to be implemented without having to worry about significant losses due to the switch. It also enables low signal distortion and low power consumption in the circuit.
