The MAX4624EUT+T is a wide common-mode range, low-voltage single-pole double-throw (SPDT) analog switch IC from Maxim that is designed for battery-powered systems operating at 0.6V to 5.5V. It is intended for applications including portable medical and industrial instrumentation, hand-held test equipment, board-level protection, and buffer limitations.
One of the major benefits of this device is its low RON and low ON resistance, which provides exceptional switch ON impedance performance. The single-pole double-throw (SPDT) switches provided in the MAX4624 have a low ON resistance and low leakage that makes this device suitable in applications that need to support higher switching frequencies. The MAX4624 provides an integrated ESD-safe protection structure that protects the switch from electrostatic discharge (ESD) events, enabling it to withstand brief +/- 8kV contact discharges. Moreover, it provides thermal overload protection and extended temperature range of -40°C to +85°C.
The MAX4624EUT+T n-channel switch operates by connecting one point (the “scan” point) to either one of the two output points. The switch is controlled by the low logic-level signals (active-low) applied to its 2-pole select pin. It can be used to select either one of two external digital signals and connects them to a common port. It can also be used as a power control switch, switching power from two independent sources.
The two analog switches in the MAX4624EUT+T can be controlled simultaneously or independently, depending upon the input logic level applied on the common control pins. When both signals on the two control pins are high, both switches are turned off, allowing the two signals to be crossed over from one side to the other. The switched signal to the output can be either on or off, depending on the logic level of the control pins.
In addition, the MAX4624EUT+T provides guaranteed break-before-make switching and low ON-resistance flatness. This minimizes the contact-bounce time and avoids any possibility of introducing noise signals or glitches in the system. This device also offers a low-voltage, low-power consumption, wide-bandwidth (200MHz) performance and low RF leakage (about -30dB at 4GHz).
The MAX4624EUT+T can be used for a wide range of industrial and consumer applications.
