The MAX4624EUT-T belongs to the Interface - Analog Switches, Multiplexers, Demultiplexers family of products. It is a single SPI- or I2C-controlled, eight-channel, bidirectional, voltage-level translator. The MAX4624EUT-T is designed to interface two separate logic supply domains. This device is compatible with industry-standard logic inputs and 3V to 5.5V operation. The MAX4624EUT-T is great for applications requiring a logic translation from digital to analog and back, such as audio devices, home/building automation, and a host of other systems. This device works by isolating sources from a low-voltage digital domain to a high-voltage digital domain, converting logic input levels on the low-voltage digital domain side to the high-voltage output levels, sensing a digital input voltage range of 0.8V to 1.2V on the low-voltage side and providing outputs to the high-voltage side that range from 3V to 5.5V. When entering the high-voltage side, the MAX4624EUT-T provides robust level-shifting with power switches and Schmitt-trigger input buffering. The MAX4624EUT-T turns off channels that are not in use, which reduces quiescent current consumption and extend the board lifetime. The MAX4624EUT-T is designed to provide high performance in a wide range of applications, including power-sensitive systems such as battery operated or energy harvesting applications. This device offers eight channels of level-shifting and fault protection. It provides 8-bit resolution for excellent signal quality with minimal distortion. The MAX4624EUT-T is housed in an 8-pin NSOIC package which makes it ideal for use in small form factor designs. In addition, the device features three logic levels: high, low, and high output swing. The MAX4624EUT-T also provides short-circuit protection for both input and output, with a current-limiting feature that limits the current to the Maximum Output Current rating, thus avoiding potential damage from untrustworthy sources or from connecting the wrong polarity memory or ICs. This current-limiting feature also prevents the IC from exceeding the specified thermal budget. The MAX4624EUT-T is also compatible with multiple I/O interfaces. These interfaces include Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) four- or three-wire mode with up to 10MHz clock, I2C three- or four-wire modes with data rates up to 3.4MHz, and direct port mapping with read/write operations.
