Working Principle

The MAX489ECSD+ works based on a quad integrated power MOSFET configured as a full-bridge driver, consisting of high-side and low-side MOSFETs. The driver is designed to drive the differential pair of Tx/Rx output lines with a minimum of 330mV (±165mV) across the Tx/Rx lines. This voltage is achieved by sensing the voltage drop across the MOSFETs and controlling the output voltage based on the feedback.

The device also includes a differential input buffer and receiver with an adjustable threshold voltage to optimize signal noise immunity and sensitivity. The outputs from the receiver are used to enable the driver and generate the TXD and RXD signals, respectively.
