The MAX5003ESE-T is a DC/DC switching controller used in various applications. It provides high power conversion efficiency compared to traditional analog controllers. The device features an integrated low-distortion sinusoidal pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller and a low-dropout linear regulator (LDO) controller.

The MAX5003ESE-T features an internal PMOSFET switch, which can reduce external component count and board space requirement. It supports low input voltage start-ups (down to 0.86V) and provides a wide-range PWM converter. The maximum output voltage and current are 30V/3A and 200mA respectively.

Working Principle Of MAX5003ESE-T

The MAX5003ESE-T is a integrated DC/DC step-down switching controller which can be used to convert a regulated or unregulated input voltage to a regulated output voltage. The device uses pulse width modulation (PWM) as the main control mechanism. The device operates by switching the internal PMosFET switch between the input and output voltage.

When the switch is on, the input voltage is applied to the output and the inductor stores energy by accumulating magnetic field. When the switch is off, the stored energy is dissipated into the output voltage by forcing current through the inductor.

The output voltage depends on the duty cycle of the PWM signal and inductor values which determines the maximum switching current. The PWM signal is generated by the internal PWM generator and is compared with an internal reference voltage to determine the duty cycle. The average output voltage is proportional to the average output current.

The MAX5003ESE-T also provide certain levels of protection against voltage and current extremes. It has a programmable soft-start feature to provide a smooth transition when the device is turned on, frequency oscillator to keep the output current and voltage stable, an under voltage lockout (UVLO) feature and an over voltage protection feature.

The device operates with a wide input voltage range of 0.8V to 18V and supports manually programmable frequency or can adjust the frequency based on the inductor values. The device is designed for applications up to 200mA output current and offers high efficiency and high precision operation.
