The MAX5022 evaluation kit (EV kit) enables designers to evaluate the performance of the MAX5022, a proprietary dual step-down regulator from Maxim Integrated. This evaluation kit aids in demonstrating how the MAX5022 can operate as a stand-alone DC/DC/AC/DC (off-line ) SMPS with zero load current, increasing efficiency and improving thermal management. The EV kit can be tested in various scenarios to determine the suitability and performance of the MAX5022 for a certain application.

The MAX5022 is an integrated dual step-down regulator with near-zero load current. It is a synchronous rectifier, eliminating a power diode and resulting in higher efficiency. In particular, the MAX5022 provides a low quiescent current of only 2.3µA, which improves power efficiency over a wide input voltage range. The device also features very low dropout voltages (VIN- VOUT) across its output range of 0.6V to 3.3V, allowing it to provide stable voltage regulation performance over a wide input voltage range and lower the need for large-value capacitors.

The MAX5022 EV kit provides an easy-to-use platform for evaluating the performance of the MAX5022. The EV kit includes all the necessary components to evaluate the MAX5022. It includes MAX5022DHBRT/V, two evaluation boards, two MAX17572 dual inductor-inductor-capacitor (LLC) controllers, one MAX5022NRDCF, power supply circuitry, mated connectors, firmware (loadable into the device through its serial interface), and various other support components. The components are pre-assembled for easy and fast testing.

The MAX5022 EV kit can be used to evaluate the MAX5022\'s performance as a stand-alone DC/DC/AC/DC (off-line) SMPS in zero load current condition. It features a control board, which is powered by one of the MAX17572 LLC controllers. The control board is connected to the main evaluation board where the MAX5022 is powered and routed. The control board allows the user to configure the MAX5022\'s control and power circuitry according to the desired output voltage, frequency, and other parameters.
