The MAX5024MASA+T is a linear voltage regulator in the family of PMIC voltage regulators. It features a low drop-out (LDO) voltage regulator with an adjustable output voltage down to 1.25V and a current limit up to 2A. The regulator is designed to operate over a wide input voltage range from 2.7V to 5.5V and comes in a SO-8 package.

The MAX5024MASA+T provides efficiency in its various application fields, and can be effectively used in power management of portable electronic devices such as cell phones,PDAs, and internet-enabled devices. It is also used for providing regulated voltage for general-purpose circuitry applications like driving LEDs, and for backup power applications such as in automotive and industrial designs.

The MAX5024MASA+T features an integrated internal power device, which includes a high-side sense FET, current limit, and thermal shutdown circuitry. This allows the regulator to provide excellent protection and performance while limiting power dissipation in its applications. On-chip circuitry also provides reverse current protection,regulating the output current. This eliminates the need for an external current-limiting resistor, which in turn reduces the size, cost and complexity of the application.

The MAX5024MASA+T is based on the industry standard two-phase CMOS process, providing excellent performance. The regulator also includes an on-chip reference voltage and an adjustment pin to set the output voltage level. The internal compensation and current programming are designed to keep the output voltage stable over varying line and load conditions and temperatures. Furthermore, built-in soft-start circuitry reduces input inrush current.

In addition to the adjustable linear regulator, the MAX5024MASA+T also includes an overvoltage protection circuit. This overvoltage protection circuit is a diagnostic output circuit which indicates the presence of an output voltage above the user-specified level. This feature is useful for diagnosing wiring problems, as well as for monitoring the overvoltage protection level in order to extend the life of the application.

The MAX5024MASA+T also provides excellent thermal characteristics due to its low power dissipation. This allows for highly efficient operation with minimal heat generation, resulting in higher reliability and longer life in the application. It also provides short-circuit protection, as well as reverse-breaker protection for added safety.
