Data Acquisition - Digital to Analog Converters (DAC) play an important role in many industries. The MAX5186BEEI+ is a high-precision, low-power, 16-bit, single-channel digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with integrated power on reset (POR) and temperature sensor. This device is ideal for applications that require high-precision analog signal generation in a space-constrained environment. The MAX5186BEEI+ features an ultra-low distortion output buffer, which provides exceptional signal integrity with minimal power consumption, ideal for battery-powered applications.

The MAX5186BEEI+ can convert a digital input code into an analog output voltage. The input code is a 16 bit digital code, that can be written to the DAC registers through the I2C serial interface. The DAC output is a analog voltage between 0 V and VREF, where VREF is the voltage applied to the VREF pin. This voltage can be programmed in the DAC through bits D3 to D0. Its PUPD pin allows the output to be pulled up or pulled down to any voltage from 0 V to VREF, or left floating depending on the programming. The MAX5186BEEI+ has internal voltage monitor, temperature monitor, and power on reset (POR) circuits, which ensures accuracy and reliability of the output.

The temperature monitor of MAX5186BEEI+ includes a temperature sensor with an analog output voltage proportional to the die temperature. The temperature monitor can be used to shut down the output of the DAC in case of over-temperature and prevents thermal damage. The POR circuit of the MAX5186BEEI+ guarantees that the output of the DAC is always correct regardless of the time after a power-down event. The POR circuit is also used to detect the presence of sufficient supply voltage before the DAC is allowed to operate.

The MAX5186BEEI+ is ideal for applications with tight board space, high accuracy and low power requirements. It provides programmable output voltage at 12-bit resolution, while consuming only 4.0 mA of supply current. In addition, the MAX5186BEEI+ contains a low power shutdown feature, which reduces supply current to less than 0.1 uA in shutdown mode. This device features an on-chip 2.5 V reference circuit, which allows the DAC to generate precision outputs up to 17-bits. The device is available in an 14-pin SOIC package and supports both commercial and automotive temperature ranges.

The MAX5186BEEI+ can be used in a wide variety of applications including motor control, industrial automation, test and measurement, medical instrumentation, and audio / video systems.
