MAX519BESE+ is a 8-/10-bit voltage output digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with a serial-packet architecture ideal for applications that require data acquisition from a microcontroller or processor. The device has a small package size of 6.5 mm x 4 mm and is rated for temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. It is offered in an 8-lead MSOP package.The MAX519BESE+ has an advanced output architecture that allows its outputs to be designed with a low in-band noise and low total harmonic distortion (THD). This maximizes usable accuracy on the output of the device and helps reduce power consumption.The device uses a 10-bit parallel input sense line to acquire 8-bit or 10-bit data. Data is clocked into the device with a chip select that is referred to as a serial clock (SCK). Data is then transmitted to the device with a special serial-in packet format. This packet format contains a valid data bit and an address bit. Data is clocked out of the device on the serial out (SDO) data line.The MAX519BESE+ also has selectable addressable and non-addressable modes for programmability of the device. In non-addressable mode, data is latched internally and is applied to the analog output without having to access the device by an address. In addressable mode, the device can be accessed by 8-bit and 10-bit command codes.The MAX519BESE+ also features an integrated DAC with internal circuitry to provide a programmable voltage with resolution as low as 10 mV. The DAC has both a low current standby mode and a high speed transfer mode, making it ideal for low power and high speed applications, respectively.The device also has a power-down feature that can be used to reduce power consumption when the device is not in use.
