The MAX521BEPP+ is an 8-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC), specifically designed for low power, high accuracy applications. The DAC is a low power, low noise, low distortion monolithic integrated circuit for the generation of analog signals from digital sources. The MAX521BEPP+ provides a high-efficiency 2V to S5V single-ended digital-to-analog converter that operates in less than 700uA quiescent current. This makes it ideal for applications such as automotive and battery-backed systems.The chip features a linearity of 0.3% max and a one-millivolt offset voltage. It has a differential nonlinearity (DNL) of ± 0.5LSB and an integral nonlinearity (INL) error of less than ± 0.25LSB. The integrated circuit comes in an 8-pin SOIC package and features low power consumption, low noise, low distortion, and low input loading.The device uses a three-state, voltage-driving current DAC architecture and a decoded thermal gravimetric resistor network. The device converts a digital word into a corresponding single-ended output voltage with step size of +4.14mV/LSB. It is powered by a +5V supply, and is able to operate from -40°C to 85°C.The microcontroller\'s integrated 12-bit2, 4-channel analog-to-digital converter (ADC) can be used to monitor the MAX521BEPP+ output signal voltage. The device also has an internal power-on reset circuit which ensures proper power-up sequencing.The MAX521BEPP+ is ideal for applications requiring an 8-bit DAC such as precision, temperature-control systems, data acquisition systems, telecommunication systems, highest SNR digital audio applications, and precision integrated data processing systems.
