The MAX5253ACPP+ is a high-performance, low-cost, low-power, 8-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) intended for data acquisition applications. The DAC core uses an innovative architecture that combines solid-state reliability with features ideally suited for system level applications. It is equipped with an on-chip temperature sensor and intelligent self-calibration routine, allowing the ‐5V output voltage to be accurately adjusted over 0 to 5000mV range with 1mV resolution. The MAX5253ACPP+ also features an on-chip 16-bit nonvolatile memory, providing a user configurable ”memory-in-a-box” strategy for a variety of applications.

The DAC core enables the MAX5253ACPP+ to use a single, linear output voltage range from zero to twenty volts. It also offers a versatile selection of digital output codes and allows for multiple output ranges to be programmed. The core supports user-selectable output update rates from 8–32 MHz, with glitchless switching transitions and a minimum total settling time of 1.3µs.

The wide operating temperature range of the MAX5253ACPP+ makes it ideal for harsh duty applications. This device is designed to operate over the full −40℃ to +85℃ industrial temperature range and will readily handle a wide dynamic range of conditions. The MAX5253ACPP+ includes a temperature compensation circuitry which offers 0.01%/˚C gain and linearity accuracy, insuring high-precision DAC performance over the entire operating temperature range.

The MAX5253ACPP+ allows multiple input channels and separate channel and power supplies for each DAC. In addition, each channel can be controlled independently with support for up to eight DAC channels. This enables the MAX5253ACPP+ to be used in a wide range of data acquisition applications, ranging from single-ended to differential and various other system requirements.

The MAX5253ACPP+ also offers multiple clock sources and data formats, including single cycle update, double-buffered update, multi-channel simultaneous update, and even dual-cycle update to accommodate stabilization needs. This makes it an ideal solution for multi-channel systems and mission critical applications that require seamless data acquisition and high-speed digital-to-analog conversions.

The MAX5253ACPP+ operates at up to 9V supply voltage and dissipates only 445mW in typical configurations. With its advanced on-chip calibration and temperature compensation circuitry, it provides the most reliable, efficient and cost-effective solution for any high-accuracy data acquisition applications.
