Data Acquisition - Digital to Analog Converters (DAC) are widely used in electronics, telecommunication systems, instrumentation and control systems, audio systems, and industrial automation systems. The MAX5322EAI+ is a low-power, high-precision 12-bit (13-bit effective) digital-to-analog converter (DAC). It offers a low noise, low power consumption and maximum flexibility in a wide range of applications.

The device comprises of an array of parallel-connected precision current sources and one precision voltage source that can be configured to operate in two different modes. In the unipolar mode, the voltage range is 0 to +Vref, with gains on each of the output stages range from 2.5 mV/LSB to 20 mV/LSB. In the bipolar mode, the voltage range is -Vref to +Vref with gains range from 1.25 mV/LSB to 10 mV/LSB. The reference voltage is factory-programmed or can be externally set using a reference voltage setting circuit.

The device also features a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C. It operates on a single supply of 2.7V to 5.5V, and a single-ended analog current output IP of 1.5mA. It has a maximum settling time of 1?µs and a power dissipation of only 10mW. The device also features 3-state output logic, allowing the DAC output to be high-impedance when the logic goes low.

The MAX5322EAI+ is pin-configurable to match the function, speed and power requirements of the application. It is ideal for applications such as digital-to-analog conversions, active filters, sensor display readouts and digital-to-analog controllers. It is also an ideal choice for applications where low power dissipation, low noise, and maximum flexibility are necessary.

The device also features several features that guarantee its high accuracy and reliability. These features include inputs handle static signals with no degradation in accuracy, an offset-error specification that is better than 1 LSB of resolution, and an offset error multiplier specification of 300 LSB maximum. It also provides 2*Vref for an extra precision current source to achieve over-gain performance, and has power-down functions in the logic input.
