Evaluation and Demonstration Boards and Kits: MAX5391NEVKIT+
The MAX5391NEVKIT+ from Maxim Integrated is an Evaluation and Demonstration Board and Kit designed to enable designers to evaluate the features, performance, and operation of the MAX5391 digital potentiometer. The MAX5391 is an advanced, digitally controlled potentiometer, or digipot, designed to provide a digitally adjustable variable resistor, with 127 steps of resolution, and a nominal resistance of 100KΩ, for use as a programmable resistor. The MAX5391NEVKIT+ includes the MAX5391NEVKIT base board, a stacked board with one MAX5391, and one MAX11043EVKITD board for using the MAX5039A/ MAX5041A for single-to-differential and differential-to-single signal level translation. It also includes an optional 12-bit DAC evaluation kit.
The MAX5391NEVKIT+ Evaluation and Demonstration Board and Kit can be used to easily prove out and test a wide variety of applications of the MAX5391 digipot. These applications include an adjustable voltage reference, programmable resistor, digitally programmed offset, and adjustable gain and temperature compensation for several different applications. Additionally, the MAX5391NEVKIT+ can be used for digital gain and DAC calibration.
The MAX5391NEVKIT+ Evaluation and Demonstration Board and Kit is designed to work with the MAX5391 digital potentiometer, MAX11043EVKITD board, and the optional 12-bit DAC evaluation kit. The MAX5391NEVKIT+ includes three printed circuit boards to enable designers to quickly and easily configure the system to suit their application. The main board is used to evaluate the MAX5391 digipot with the MAX5039A/MAX5041A and the optional DAC. The MAX11043EVKITD board is used for single-to-differential and differential-to-single signal level translation and provides quick and simple termination. Finally, the optional 12-bit DAC evaluation kit can be used to evaluate the MAX5039A/MAX5041A.
The MAX5391 digipot featured in the MAX5391NEVKIT+ Evaluation and Demonstration Board and Kit features a number of features that provide designers a great deal of flexibility in configuring the system for their application. The MAX5391 has a programmable nonvolatile memory that can be overwritten with a new code. It also features a programmable I/O pin to enable direct control from an external processor while also providing designers a level of flexibility in determining how the potentiometer can be operated. Additionally, the MAX5391 digipot has a low adjustment time of only 16µs, making it suitable for rapidly changing applications.
The MAX5391NEVKIT+ Evaluation and Demonstration Board and Kit provides developers and engineers with a flexible, high quality solution for evaluating the features, performance, and operation of the MAX5391 digital potentiometer.
