This highly integrated device provides an output range of 0V to Vref(max), and features a wide supply voltage range of ±4.0V to ±12.0V making it suitable for a variety of applications. It uses a precision 2.5V, 3.3V or 5V reference (‘Vref’) and can provide an output voltage range of up to VrefMax. The DAC accepts 8-bit input digital data which is decoded and then applied to the voltage divider network. The voltage divider section is controlled by the 8-bit data and further adjusted by the coarse and fine digital controls. Depending on the digital input, the divider will adjust the output voltage from 0V to Vref(max).The device consumes only 5.3mA of quiescent supply current when enabled, and the high-drive output buffers deliver up to 30mA of peak current.ClockingThe MAX5442BEUB features an internal 1.4µs Latch/Update Pulse Generator (or ‘clocker’) with logic inputs for both Latch/Update and Reset. This internal circuit generates the necessary clock pulses to latch the 8-bit data inputs, update the analog output, and reset the DAC to zero. It is possible to override the internal clock by using an external clock source.ReferenceThe MAX5442BEUB contains an integrated, low-noise voltage reference input buffer. The device includes an external 2.5V (or 3.3V and 5V) reference input.Output BufferThe MAX5442BEUB also features an integrated high-drive buffer with capability to deliver up to 30mA of peak output current for applications requiring high output drive current.Power-down ModeThe MAX5442BEUB supports a power-down mode which reduces supply current to typically 3µA.
