Working Principle of MAX552ACUB

The MAX552ACUB contains an 8-bit input latch that latches the incoming data and a 18-bit R-2R voltage ladder DAC which converts the input data to an output voltage. The voltage ladder DAC is made up of 17 resistor pairs that are connected to each other in a linear sequence. The top end of each resistor pair is connected to an input voltage and the bottom end is connected to ground. The output voltage is determined by the sum of the voltages of the resistor pairs at the positive input. By applying a digital code to the MAX552ACUB\'s input latch, some of the resistor pairs are connected in parallel fashion, thus reducing the total resistance of the ladder and increasing the output voltage.To increase the precision of the output voltage, the MAX552ACUB uses a single-slope architecture.
