The MAX5531ETC+ is a high-performance voltage-output, 12-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that provides excellent accuracy, linearity, and temperature stability in a low-power (1.5 mW max), small-footprint package. This device has an integrated unipolar reference and support for external references up to 5.5V. It offers four user-programmable operating modes, independent of power-on setting, to optimize resolution, settling time, and supply current for a variety of applications. The device finds use in precision industrial and instrumentation applications, such as temperature and process control, bridge balance and sensor calibration. The MAX5531ETC+ core is based on a voltage-output, self-calibrated Delta-Sigma modulator. This modulator uses a proprietary architecture to achieve its excellent linearity, settling time and low-power performance. It is designed with a control register to set its operating mode, serial input port to transfer 12-bit codes, output power amplifier, and an internal clock circuit that is gated by a logic input. Outputs are available at either the full-scale reference or scaled to a lower voltage reference. An external reference input to the MAX5531ETC+ allows the output voltage to be set from the full-scale reference down to the level of the external reference. This is useful for applications such as bridge balance, where high output accuracy is desired.
