Data acquisition is the process of sampling signals that measure real world physical conditions and converting it into digital numeric values that can be manipulated by a computer or other embedded information processing device. Digital to Analog Converters (DAC) are a key component in this acquisition process, converting discrete digital values into an analog output signal. The MAX5803ATB+T is an 8-bit DAC designed to provide a cost-effective solution with an accuracy of 4.9% up to 8-bit.

It starts by detecting an incoming 8-bit binary data code and then decoding it into an equivalent analog voltage value. This analog output is a voltage whose magnitude is proportional to the input code and reverse proportional to the maximum input range of the DAC, that is to say, the MAX5803ATB+T has a precision range of 0 to 4.096V.
