Working Principle

The MAX6310UK26D2-T works by monitoring the voltage on the two input pins. When the voltage falls below the reset threshold voltage, the RESET output is asserted and re-asserted until the supply voltage rises above the threshold. With this device, the two supplies being monitored can be connected in series, used as a single supply, or used as two separate supplies. The manual reset input allows the user to manually reset the output without having to power cycle the system.

The MAX6310UK26D2-T also features optional low-battery reset. This feature allows the user to monitor an additional supply below the reset threshold, and if it falls into the low-battery detection level, the LB output will be asserted. This output is open-drain and requires an external pull-up resistor. Low-battery reset can be used in applications where two supplies are connected in series and one of them fails, the other supply needs to be monitored to prevent system or data loss.

The MAX6310UK26D2-T features a user programmable reset timeout period. This allows the user to determine the length of time after an input voltage falls below the reset threshold before the RESET output is asserted. The timeout period is user programmable and can be set up to 20 seconds.
