This article explores the application field and working principle of the MAX6334UR20D3+ power supervisor.The MAX6334UR20D3+ is a dual, +2.2V to +5.6V, low-power power supervisor with a reset and reset-enable output. The supervisor features a micropower reset to monitor power supply rails and ensure that digital systems are reset if power goes out of tolerance. In active low configuration, a low-going assertion reset is asserted by the MAX6334UR20D3+ when power rails exceed their power supply tolerance. In active high configuration, an assertion of high is output when power rails exceed their power supply tolerance. Additionally, the MAX6334UR20D3+ includes built-in logic to prevent false reset generation.The MAX6334UR20D3+ uses an external pull-up resistor network to detect and report the active-high reset state of the device. When the active-high reset state is detected, the MAX6334UR20D3+ will assert an active-low reset. The MAX6334UR20D3+ also has an adjustable reset timeout window to prevent the reset assertion from staying asserted indefinitely.The MAX6334UR20D3+ also has a reset fail-safe feature, which is designed to prevent false reset generation due to power rail supply variation. It does this by asserting a reset regardless of the actual power rail voltage. When the reset-fail-safe threshold is exceeded, the reset output is asserted and the upper and lower power supply thresholds must be re-met before another reset is asserted.The MAX6334UR20D3+ can operate over a temperature range of -40°C to +125°C and its low-power operation consumes only 40µA over the -40°C to +85°C temperature range. Furthermore, it can operate over a VDD voltage range of 2V to 5.5V, making it ideal for applications where a low-power, highly reliable voltage monitoring and reset is required.
