The MAX6338OUB is a precision low-power voltage supervisor with microprocessor supervisory circuit (SMC) functionalit. This microcontroller provides the ideal solution for a range of applications that require reliable voltage and current monitoring, such as power supply design (for both single and multiple supply-voltages designs), telecommunications and other specialty applications where space is a major factor. It utilizes an integrated power-on reset (POR) system to detect voltage events, and can detect and report the status of any analog voltage input.The MAX6338OUB employs a high-accuracy, low-power voltage supervisor designed to operate over a wide temperature range. The device features an adjustable voltage limit or trip point and is capable of providing accurate voltage monitoring with as little as 3Ω of resistance. It also features built-in power-on reset (POR) and power-down reset (PDR) functions.At the center of the MAX6338OUB\'s voltage supervision is a precision band gap voltage reference. The MAX6338OUB provides ±0.5% total accuracy over the specified temperature range and the POR voltage limit is generally adjustable from 1.75–3.6V. The MAX6338OUB can be used in a variety of applications, including power monitoring and protection, over-voltage/current protection, voltage and temperature protection, thermal management, and other specialty applications where space constraints are a concern. It features a wide operating voltage range of 2.67 to 65 volts.In addition to its voltage monitoring capabilities, the MAX6338OUB also supports power-on reset (POR) and power-down reset (PDR) functions. When the input voltage drops below the POR voltage range, an internal reset signal is generated which can be used to reset the connected device. Similarly, when the input voltage rises above the PDR voltage threshold, an external reset signal is generated to reset the connected device.As a supervisor, the MAX6338OUB can also act as a watchdog, providing an effective safety measure against malfunctions. It offers an input-expandable solution, allowing for up to four auxiliary inputs with adjustable voltage thresholds and an internal backup input for protection.To take full advantage of the MAX6338OUB’s capabilities, users may add an external output module, such as the MAX6360. This module is designed to enhance the device’s output by supplying a logic low output when the input voltage is above a custom set limit or trip point. Finally, the MAX6338OUB is designed to meet the increased need for precision voltage supervision in a wide variety of systems. Its low power consumption and wide operating temperature range make it an ideal solution for applications where space is a major factor.
