For many industries, analog and digital output temperature sensors provide the accuracy and precision needed to ensure temperature-sensitive products are manufactured properly and with consistent quality. MAX6695AUB+ is a new temperature sensor from Maxim Integrated that features improved accuracy and resolution over its predecessors. The MAX6695AUB+ is an industrial-grade temperature sensor that provides a simple, accurate, and cost-effective solution for a number of applications, including industrial automation, data centers, HVAC, and consumer electronics. The differential amplifier and operational amplifier are at the core of the signal conditioning circuitry. They amplify the voltage differential between the thermistor and a reference resistor to produce an amplified voltage proportional to the resistance of the thermistor. This output is then read by the MCU, which calculates the temperature based on lookup tables stored in a calibration data file. The temperature is then output, either as a 12-bit resolution digital signal, or a 2-bit resolution analog signal. The digital signal is represented by a pulse width modulation (PWM) wave and provides more accuracy at a lower cost. The analog signal can be used if a higher resolution is desired. The MAX6695AUB+ also features a low-power shutdown mode. When this feature is enabled, the sensor lowers the power consumption of the signal conditioning circuitry, saving energy.
