MAX6695AUB+ is a new temperature sensor from Maxim Integrated that features improved accuracy and resolution over its predecessors. The differential amplifier and operational amplifier are at the core of the signal conditioning circuitry. They amplify the voltage differential between the thermistor and a reference resistor to produce an amplified voltage proportional to the resistance of the thermistor. This output is then read by the MCU, which calculates the temperature based on lookup tables stored in a calibration data file. The temperature is then output, either as a 12-bit resolution digital signal, or a 2-bit resolution analog signal. The digital signal is represented by a pulse width modulation (PWM) wave and provides more accuracy at a lower cost. The analog signal can be used if a higher resolution is desired.
