Working principle of MAX6730AUTTD3+

The reset output pins of the MAX6730AUTTD3+ are used to reset an microcontroller or microprocessor in the event of a power system fault. The device consists of two voltage supervisors, one which provides an active low (LOW_EN) output, and one that provides an active high (HIGH_EN) output.

The MAX6730AUTTD3+ is designed to detect power supply oversized, undersized, or no voltage. The power input is connected to the VDD pin and will be monitored for over/undervoltage conditions. The MAX6730AUTTD3+ monitors the input voltage and provides the reset signal to the microcontroller. When the input voltage to the VDD pin is below the undervoltage threshold or above the overvoltage threshold, the MAX6730AUTTD3+ will reset the microcontroller. The high-set input pin (HIGH_EN) will generate an active-high reset signal when the input voltage is above the overvoltage threshold. The low-set pin (LOW_EN) will generate an active-low reset signal when the input voltage is below the undervoltage threshold.

The MAX6730AUTTD3+ also has a signal/load input to detect circuit open/short, AC line voltage sag, drop-out, power surges, brown-out, and over-voltage conditions. This can be used for extra safety since it can detect an open or short in the circuit, and thereby take necessary action when such an event occurs. The signal/load input also has the ability to detect software or noise glitches and reset the microcontroller if necessary.
