It watches the supply voltage and latency of the reset pulse, therefore if it noticed that the supply voltage is not normal or the latency of the reset pulse is too long, it will immediately provide a reset signal in order to suspend the corrupted or doing wrong instruction or program. Furthermore, it will also detect the power-on sequence and reset whenever the monitored voltage raise from a given level to another. Thus, it is necessary for relative embedded applications to ensure that their program and system would run smoothly and reliable.

The MAX6730UTSD2+T provides the Watchdog Timer input and output, So that it can be allowed to be used with both source and sink logic flag. It will restart the system immediately an event has been detected, then kick off the reset pulse until it is acknowledged correctly. Otherwise, it will reset the whole system to an idle state.
