MAX6792TPLD2+

MAX6792TPLD2+ is a microprocessor supervisor device that provides the following functions to maintain system reliability and integrity in PMIC (Power Management IC) applications: reset generation, voltage monitoring and system reset status pin latches. It is suited for microcontroller reset applications in Safety-Critical Industrial and Automotive systems. Working Principle of MAX6792TPLLED2+

The MAX6792TPLD2+ provides the following functions: reset generation (watchdog timer and manual reset input pin), voltage monitoring (thresholds configurable), and system reset status pin (RESET output). All the components have to be powered off when the OUTPUT pin is pulled low. MAX6792TPLD2+ offers a wide range of features which enable custom system monitoring and reset generation, it allows the user to adjust the thresholds, operating times, and reset types. It also offers several channels to monitor system voltages with configurable thresholds for On/Off and Reset modes.

The Reset output is an open-drain signal which triggers when any of the compared input voltages exceeds the predetermined threshold. After the delay times, the RESET pin is pulled low, disabling the system and pushing it into a known state. The RESET can be cleared when the system is stable again and the input voltages are back within acceptable range. At the same time, the MAX-6792TPLD2+ can also be used to generate periodic reset signals, making it possible to detect system faults and prevent failure.

The MAX-6792TPLD2+ also has an internal watchdog timer, whose maximum timeout period is ≈ 1.6s. The user can also adjust the timeout, assert the reset signal, and terminate power if the watchdog timer expires.

The MAX-6792TPLD2+ also provides two on-chip, low active RESETn status pins. These pins indicate whether the system is in an On, Off or Reset state. They can also be used as input to other user-configurable reset monitoring circuits.
