The MAX688CSA+T is an adjustable, low-dropout voltage linear regulator and supervisor circuit specifically designed to provide local on-card regulation for 5V systems without the need for additional active components. This device is designed to accept a wide input range of 2.65V to 16V and provide a regulated output voltage from 0.8V to 16V adjustable via an external resistor. It has a fast startup time and a low dropout voltage of 175mV when delivering 500mA load current. In addition, it also includes an under-voltage lockout (UVLO) and thermal shutdown for protection.

It integrates logic level detect, enabling the user to select an active logic level from 1.45V to 6V with a single resistor. The chip also includes an integrated ±5V regulator circuit with an output voltage of between 0.8V and 5V adjustable via an external resistor. It provides a low-noise output with a low quiescent current of 4mA (typical).

Furthermore, the MAX688CSA+T also features an adjustable over-current protection (OCP) with a foldback current limiting circuit that limits its output current under overload. The device also integrates a power fail output (PFO) and power-good output (PGO) that signals the state of the regulated power accurately and rapidly to the system.
