MAX699CWE, or simply the MAX699, is a voltage supervisor integrated chip manufactured by Maxim Integrated Products. Working Principle

The MAX699CWE is designed to monitor the voltage of the power supply. It is pre-programmed with specific safe thresholds, which will be compared to the voltage present in the power supply when it is connected. If the power supply voltage goes beyond the pre-programmed thresholds, the MAX699CWE will respond by resetting the power supply. The chip is equipped with a so-called window detector. It enables the circuit to monitor two different voltages, below and above the nominal range, which can be set separately for each window. In both cases, the MAX699CWE will respond by resetting the power supply if the monitored voltage exceeds the programmed thresholds.The MAX699CWE won\'t trigger any response if there is no problem detected in the incoming voltage. This adjustable time-delay helps avoid false resets in transient conditions by providing a window of time to set-up a functional voltage level on the output before resetting the power supply.
