The MAX7317AEE+ is an I/O expander designed by Maxim which provides excellent performance with low current consumption. This device is designed to interface with other microcontrollers or reduce the number of general-purpose I/O (GPIO) output pins in the system design, allowing the microcontroller to control several I/O lines simultaneously by using a single I2C/SPI serial port.Features of MAX7317AEE+
The MAX7317AEE+ offers an internal pull-up resistor, a PD0 and PD1 input pull-down resistor option, various operations modes, an interrupt control pin and an LED indicator pin. With its built-in 1.8V to 5.5V power supply range, the MAX7317AEE+ can be powered from battery calculations. The internal pull-up resistor can be disabled at a low cost and the option for PD0 & PD1 input pull-down resistors provide greater flexibility for the system that needs to read multiple digital inputs. Using a system design based on a bus master, the MAX7317AEE+ can support up to 16 different slave devices connected to the same bus. It supports both read and write transactions. In write operations, the microcontroller or master device sends a byte of data specifying the desired state of the outputs, and the MAX7317AEE+ responds by updating the output pins to match the requested state. In read operations, the master device must send a byte of data asking for the desired state of the input pins, and the MAX7317AEE+ responds by sending a byte of data with the state of the input pins.This allows the microcontroller to control multiple I/O lines simultaneously, without the need to dedicate multiple output pins on the microcontroller. At the same time, the availability of an LED indicator pin and various operating modes offer greater flexibility and control for the application.
