The IC also integrates high and low-side power switches, power MOSFET’s with integrated current sensing and a low-loss capacitor-diode voltage amplification circuit. The MAX735ESA+ is a voltage regulator which uses switches to regulate the output voltage. This type of regulator is known as a switch-mode power supply (SMPS). The regulator has two stages: a power converter and a controller. The power-converter stage consists of the internal power switches and power MOSFETs which convert the input voltage to the desired output voltage.
