MAX737CWE+T application field and working principle
MAX737CWE+T is a DC-DC switching regulator which utilizes the features of the latest High Voltage CMOS process to provide step-down solution for high current applications. It is specially designed for use in demanding applications such as medical devices, industrial control systems, and automotive electronics. The device includes an on-board oscillator which provides a fixed switching frequency of either 250kHz or 500kHz, depending on the variant.
The MAX737CWE+T offers a wide input voltage range of 2.7V to 28V and an output voltage range of 0.800V to 3.2V. The device has a very high efficiency which goes up to 96%. The output voltage is adjustable via a single resistor. The device supports burst mode operation and the average output current can be controlled through a single resistor. It also has an over-voltage protection feature which shuts down the switch if the regulated output voltage goes above the set regulation point.
The device is capable of delivering up to 2A continuous output current and up to 2.5A peak current. The device features low quiescent current which makes it ideal for battery-powered applications. It also features short-circuit protection which protects the device from damage in case of a short circuit on the output.
