The MAX7453EVKIT+ is a user-programmable development board designed for building and demonstrating a PC/SC compliant contactless smart-card device.

The main components of the MAX7453EVKIT+ include a USB controller, USB flash drive, MCU, latch-up circuit, undervoltage lock-out circuit, voltage regulator, SimpleTEC-era RF transceiver, 4-way jumper and an optional NXP LPC11U37F-based companion board.

The USB host controller supports both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 device operations. The MCU is used to perform the actual card transactions. The undervoltage lock-out circuit is used to detect and disable any low-voltage activities. The voltage regulator is used to regulate the voltage to the contactless IC during card transactions. The SimpleTEC-era RF transceiver is used to perform the communication between the device and the contactless card.

The 4-way jumper is used to configure the device for either UART-connected or I2C-connected transactions. The LPC11U37F-based companion board provides the development tools necessary to program and debug the LPC11U37F-based code. Additionally, the companion board includes the necessary peripherals, including the LPC11U37F-based connections, for device development.

The MAX7453EVKIT+ can also be used to benchmark performance of a smart card device. By connecting the device to a host computer running an appropriate benchmarking application, developers can test the performance of the device in terms of power consumption, communication speed, and card detection latency.
