MAX7456EVKIT+ is an evaluation board supported by Sparkfun Electronics Inc. It is used to evaluate and demonstrate the performance of MAX7456 Evaluation Kit Plus. The MAX7456 evaluation board is powered by Microchip Technology’s MAX7456 On-Screen-Display device. This chip is a single-chip video overlay processor with low power consumption and high refresh rate capabilities. It can overlay characters, graphics, and icons on NTSC or PAL composite video signals without requiring external memory or processor support. Using its internal EEPROM, it has the capability to overlay simple character decorations, such as bold, italic, and underline.

The MAX7456EVKIT+ evaluation board works on NTSC and PAL composite video signals. It has the maximum 6 MHz pixel clock frequency and can be clocked at up to 5.6 MHz. The on-board 10-bit Digital-to-Analog (D/A) converter can handle up to 8-bit pixel ram, while the on-board 16-bit high throughput Analog-to-Digital (A/D) converter can handle up to 10-bit pixel RAM. It also supports a variety of user selectable display formats, such as 320x256, 192x256 and 128x256.

The MAX7456EVKIT+ evaluation board also provides on-board CPU interface for communication with external processors. It has two Programmable Logic Devices (PLD) for controlling the user selected on-screen display (OSD). This board also allows users to customize the look of their display in order to get the best out of their applications. It also has on-board RC networks to limit the output signal to reduce external noise.
