The MAX762CSA+T is a switch-mode step-down DC-to-DC converter that is well-suited for a variety of general battery-powered applications. Regulated 5V or 3.3V outputs are available and the IC operates within an available input voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V. It also has low quiescent current, high efficiency, and a wide adjustment range of up to 8V to output. This makes the MAX762CSA+T an ideal device for powering an array of peripherals and devices in a single battery-operated system.

The MAX761CSA+T is a buck regulator that uses Synchronous Rectification, a method in which the transistor inside the controller is placed between the load and the battery. In this circuit the transistor acts as a switch which is controlled by the controller. When the controller detects current flow running from the battery to the load, it switches the transistor on to allow current to flow to the load. It then switches the transistor off and the energy stored in the inductor releases back to the battery. The current that is returned back to the battery is called the Recirculating Current, and the amount returned is proportional to the size of the inductor and its current rating. This ensures that the load is supplied with a constant and efficient current flow.
