Working Principle:
The MAX763ACSA+T is a peak-current mode DC/DC converter that operates in an open-loop configuration. The output current is sensed by an internal current-sense resistor and monitored by two comparators. These comparators sample the reset voltage (Vref) and the current-sense voltage. The reference voltage is internally set to 0.85V, and it increases proportionally to the output voltage. The current-sense comparator sample the voltage across a P-channel MOSFET’s internal current-sense resistor. When the current-sense voltage exceeds the reference voltage, a pulse is generated by the comparator and inverted by a buffer. All these actions are done simultaneously and continuously in order to maintain the output voltage as close to the desired level as possible. Thus, the MAX763ACSA+T ensures fast load and line transient response and excellent line/load regulation.
The MAX763ACSA+T includes a soft-start capacitor that limits the MOSFET on-time when the IC is powered up. This feature controls the in-rush current and prevents peak current overshoot.
