Max764ESA+ Application Field and Working PrincipleMax764ESA+ is a DC-to-DC switching regulator, which is categorized as a PMIC (Power Management IC). It is designed to provide efficient power in multiple configurations, high performance and reliability. The device is suitable for secondary side power supply design in applications such as personal digital assistant (PDA), digital entertainment equipment, mobile communication, and other portable and hand-held devices.Max764ESA+ has several features that make it ideal for power applications. The regulator consists of a voltage detector, pulse width modulation (PWM) controller and a power step up and down regulator. Its input voltage range is from 1.8 V to 5.5 V, and its output voltage range from 0.6 V to 5.0 V. The device supports two different modes, Circuit Output and Linear Output, which allow the user to adjust the output voltage and power as needed. The regulator is capable of providing output currents up to 250ma, and can work at up to 1.5 MHz switching frequency.The Max764ESA+ employs a DC-to-DC topology which allows for efficient power conversion.
