The MAX77812EVKIT# is based on the MAX77812 high-performance multiphase synchronous buck and multiphase synchronous buck-boost switching regulator. This IC is designed for powering systems requiring both high efficiency and low output voltage ripple in applications ranging from 0.5-60V. The IC features a low peak-peak output voltage ripple of only 250mV while delivering 98% peak efficiency.
The MAX77812EVKIT# circuit features a wide range of operating input voltage from 3.2V to 24V, thus allowing the user to experiment with varying input voltages. The MAX77812EVKIT# also features a four-phase synchronous buck impedance topology with four output stages for high current capability and low noise operation. Additionally, there is a single phase buck boost impedance topology for low power applications.
The MAX77812EVKIT# works in one of two modes: bypass (phase skip) or active mode. In bypass mode, the IC functions as a simple power on/off switch, and the user can adjust the output voltage levels by manipulating the operating mode of the buck stages, or by adjusting the magnitude of the feedback voltage. In active mode, the user can adjust the output voltage level by varying the duty cycle. For a given phase, the amplifier output voltage will be proportional to the duty cycle of the related pulse width modulation (PWM) switch.
In addition, the MAX77812EVKIT# features several on-board peripheral devices that allow the user to monitor different aspects of the system performance including voltage, current and temperature. With a wide range of features, the MAX77812EVKIT# is an ideal tool for evaluating and testing SMPS designs.
