PMIC Voltage Regulators DC DC Switching RegulatorsThe MAX77816AEWP+T is a DC-DC switch mode power supply controller with a synchronous step down regulator designed specifically for Notebook interface power supplies. The operating voltages, power factor correction (PFC) and other key characteristics are the same as those under the traditional power supply model. The main difference is that this synchronous step-down regulator is integrated into the MAX77816AEWP+T instead of a discrete converter. It uses digital design based on dual PWM controller, providing high integration, small size, fast response and reliable protection for Notebook power supply solutions.The MAX77816AEWP+T consists of a high-voltage PFC, DC-DC converter control, and short-circuit protection. The entire system has an input voltage of 6V to 55V. It supports up to three output voltages; 2.5V to 5.5V, 10V to 5.5V, and two adjustable output voltage from 0.6V to 6V. It has overload, over-temperature, under-voltage and over-voltage protection functions.The main working principle of the MAX77816AEWP+T is a synchronous switch mode DC-DC converter with a pulse-width modulation (PWM) control circuit. It has an input side with a step-down switching regulator on the output side. The PFC portion provides AC-DC conversion and output voltage regulation. The DC-DC converter portion is driven by the pulse-width modulation (PWM) controller.
