MAX9370 transceivers are low-power CMOS devices which are capable of translating between single ended and differential signal domains in a variety of digital logic applications. They use a 28-pin SOIC package, achieved a total of 12 channels operating at 5V.
The MAX9370EUA+ is a single low-power, electrically programmable logic transceiver that provides two independent direction control status lines and can translate data between one logic family to another. This is part of the MAX9370EUA+ family of transceivers currently offered by Maxim. It operates over temperatures ranging from -40°C to +85°C and is verified over the entire industrial temperature range with an over-voltage tolerant input pin tolerant of up to 6V. This product is ideal for use in data transfer circuits, general interface applications, and I/O expansion using remote bridges.
The MAX9370EUA+family of logic transceivers translates single-ended logic signals from one logic family to another, converting single-ended logic levels to/from complementary/differential logic levels. The MAX9370EUA+ contains two low-power logic transceivers, each configured to perform level conversion between two logic families. This helps reduce the number of parts used for a given design, taking some of the complexity away from the design engineer.
The transceivers are mainly used in data transfer circuits, general interface applications, I/O expansion, Remote bridges. Figure 1 shows the 3-State Bidirectional (3-state) logic gate equivalents of the MAX9370EUA+ application circuit. These logic equivalents are used to explain the logic operation of the transceiver and are related to the schematic of the actual device.

The working principle of the MAX9370EUA+ is based on two complementary transistors that are controlled by different select signals. If both select lines (Sx and SxB) are HIGH, the complementary transistors, such as Qx and QxB will be enabled and the data on the Ax and Bx lines will pass through the MAX9370EUA+. If the Sx and SxB select lines are low, the complementary transistors will be disabled, placing the A and B lines in a high impedance state.
The MAX9370EUA+ can also be put in a 3-State mode. If the Enable (EN) line is high and the select lines are low, the output transistors, Qx and QxB, will be disabled, leaving the A and B pins at a high impedance state. This effectively turns the MAX9370EUA+ into a 3-state buffer, ensuring that the logic levels on the A and B pins do not effect logic levels on the other pins.
The MAX9370EUA+ is an important component in today\'s mixed-signal, mixed-power digital logic systems.
