MAX975ESA is a high-speed, single-matched comparator with low power consumption and high noise immunity. The device can compare two different signals for both positive and negative polarity. It is capable of delivering a fast 10ns response time from input to output and can accurately detect small voltage differences (50mV). The semiconductor device consists of two independent monolithic subcircuits. The first subcircuit is a comparator with an open-collector output, while the second subcircuit is an ESD protection circuit. The MAX975ESA offers an adjustable hysteresis for the comparator, allowing the user to adjust the input threshold levels for the desired range of operation. This feature ensures a noise-free operation in industrial, communication and consumer applications. Additionally, the MAX975ESA offers a wide power supply input range (3V - 16V) and can also tolerate up to 5.5V reverse voltage. The comparators\' applications include switch debouncing, noise filtering, pulse detection, pulse edge detection and frequency analysis. The device can be used in control applications to detect fast edge changes, or to monitor digital room temperature sensors with its built-in hysteresis and high speed response time.The operating principle of the comparator is quite simple. When the voltage applied to the input pin is higher than the reference voltage, the comparator will produce a high output. On the other hand, when the input voltage is lower than the reference voltage, the comparator will produce a low output. The comparator will switch back to the original state once the conditions have been restored. The device is fully protected against ESD voltages up to 2kV per JESD22-A114C. It also has an internal temperature range from -40 to +125°C, with proper derating. It is available in 8-pin MSOP package and uses reduce power consumption, as compared to its standard PDIP counterparts.
