The MAX991ESA+ is an advanced low-power, single-supply, rail-to-rail operational amplifier specifically designed to optimize performance in single-supply data acquisition systems. It operates from a single supply as low as ±2.7V, or from dual supplies up to ±15.0V. Low quiescent current (12μA typ) and low output-voltage swing (0.4V) allow for efficient low power operation. It has a field of applications in data acquisition systems, sample-and-hold amplifiers, and analog signal-processing blocks.

The MAX991ESA+ belongs to the linear-comparator category, which basically means that it has the capability to distinguish between two analog voltages and then control the output accordingly. It allows input signal amplitudes to reach within a couple hundred millivolts (mV) of the supply rails. The MAX991ESA+ is capable of operating and making comparisons between different types of input signals, such as single-ended, differential and wide bandwidth signals. It enhances amplifier performance when compared to single supply and dual supply designs.
