Ultrasonic testing is a mechanical wave testing technology, which mainly includes two methods, one is the transmission method (or known as the pulse-echo method) and the other is the reflection method. The MBES-1516 system applies the transmission method or pulse-echo method. In the ultrasonic testing, the pulses of high-frequency mechanical waves are generated on the object, and then the defects on the object are assessed according to the scanning results.
The MBES-1516 system is able to perform remote ultrasonic testing and determine the location of defects in a variety of fields, such as aerospace, automotive industry, power industry, petrochemical industry, casting industry and shipbuilding industry. In particular, it utilizes the principle of pulse-echo method, which utilizes the differences in sound speed of sound waves in materials to build up a picture of the internal structure of an object. It makes use of reflected ultrasonic waves, that are produced when ultrasound waves strike a material irregularity or a discontinuity.
In the pulse-echo method for the MBES-1516, the launch unit produces short duration pulses of ultrasonic waves. These pulses propagate through the material. Upon encountering a boundary or discontinuity, part of the energy is reflected and can be detected and measured by the same unit which launched the test energy. This is possible by measuring the time elapsed between launch and reception of the pulse. The MBES-1516 system is capable of obtaining a time domain representational graph from which the time of the incident and reflected waves is displayed. This allows the evaluation of the material\'s thickness and the discovery of material defects within the structural material.
The MBES-1516 has a number of applications including weld inspection, crack detection, pitting determination, corrosion analysis, surface profiling and component imaging. It is also used for applications requiring in-depth scanning such as those of pipes, vessels and power generation components. It is also utilized for inspecting small parts such as machine parts, ceramic materials, and jewelry. The system operates with pulse-echo waves of different frequencies, including 5MHz, 2MHz, and 1MHz, depending on the material to be tested.
An important advantage of the MBES-1516 system is its ability to visualize test results in real time. With this system, the time gaps between ultrasound launching and receiving are measured in milliseconds, producing on-screen images of defect locations. The user then can determine the characteristics of each defect with the help of its graphical representation. Additionally, the communication options of this system make it possible to access remotely from a remote monitoring station. This real-time visualization of test results makes the MBES-1516 system highly efficient and reliable, providing precise results quickly and with very little user input.
The MBES-1516 system is an efficient and reliable tool for the detection of defects in a variety of materials. It uses the principles of pulse-echo method and allows the user to visualize results in a real-time manner. It can also be connected remotely for monitoring of the test procedure from a distance and provides reliable and accurate results. This makes it an invaluable tool for use in the aerospace, automotive, petrochemical, and other industries.
